Is it about Building Surveyor’s / Accredited Certifier’s conduct or culture?

Is your Building Surveyor / Accredited Certifier an Association of Accredited Certifiers (AAC) or Australian Institute of Building Surveyor’s (AIBS) member? We believe the process of choosing a building surveyor / accredited certifier should consider not just whether the organisation and its directors belong to an industry association, but whether they model good behavior both within and beyond their organisation. It’s not immediately obvious how you do this.

The Australian Fire Protection Maintenance specialists, Maintenance Essentials, have one of the best approaches I have come across - they employ people based on their 16 points of culture. They state on their website that “We pride ourselves on integrity, a high standard of ethics and are committed to the Maintenance Essentials 16 Points of Culture.” I agree. I believe good conduct follows from a good and positive culture! (more…)
